As Head of Supervisory Practices and Operations, Hanne is responsible for managing activities to develop standards and guidance on effective supervisory practices – including in response to emerging trends like climate change, cyber threats, diversity, equity and inclusion, digital innovation and insurance protection gaps – but also issues connected to perpetual areas of supervisory attention, such as governance, operational resilience, recovery and resolution and market conduct. In addition, she manages the organisation’s core internal operations.

Prior to joining the IAIS, Hanne worked at the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank) and held several roles in financial stability and insurance supervision.

Hanne holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The global insurance sector is being influenced by various emerging and accelerating trends, including climate change and digital innovation. It is crucial for supervisors to have the necessary tools to analyse these trends and their potential effects on key supervisory objectives such as policyholder protection and financial stability. The IAIS assists its members by offering a platform for information sharing and developing guidance on effective supervisory practices.
